On The Coop Porch

I picked up a watermelon from a truck bed vendor
this weekend and was it ever delicious.
I think watermelon with seeds tend to be a
 bit sweeter than seedless.
And more fun, especially if you're a boy.

I gave 'em each a slice and sent them outside.
They chose the coop porch to spit seeds.

They buried some so we may have random watermelon
vines growing around the yard.

This is my last week before I start my new job on Monday
so I need to get my garden planted!

Off to the grower!

  1. It reminds me of when I was in Sicily. Buying the watermelon from a truck. The boys are growing so fast!
Wishing you good luck with your new job! Hugs

    1. We have lots of vendors that sell this way. When it's peach season, I'll take pictures. They have a huge wood setup so you can see them while they drive around. Thank you for the good luck wishes {I'm nervous! It's been a long time since I've worked for someone}.

  3. Hi, I've come visiting through Brenda of Cozy Little House, caught by that beautiful header but enchanted by exploring your blog. Welcome to the South! I think we're pretty friendly here in TN but I have to admit that word is that small town Alabama is even better.

The pictures of your boys spitting watermelon seeds warms my heart completely! And we have 2 barred rock hens too and adore them. We also have 1 black sex link hen and they free range here on our 24 acres, following us around every step we take.

I can almost taste that vanilla tea cake above, feel it melting in my mouth!

Your blog and your story is lovely. A happy summer ahead to your boys,
    Dewena
